Oh I LOVE this. Conservation is an art unto itself and can completely change the way we look and interpret artwork! I love the choices made here. The lighter colour and bigger and fuller skirt really brighten the statue and add something to the silhouette that makes her immediately recognizable as a little dancer.
here’s the thing. if i were at a play and it was getting uncomfortably close to my plots and schemes i would simply not notice. my goth nephew would be staring daggers at me but it’s not like that’s any different from normal.
one of the most important things, perhaps the most important thing I have learned in my life is that nice people can fuck each other up in monstrous ways. people can be bone deep kind and loving and self reflective and still lash out under pressure. people can be earnestly neighbourly and charitable and hospitable and generous and still find themselves in situations where they become selfish. people can be well meaning and easygoing and gregarious and hold deep seated opinions that turn them into vicious little bullies under the right conditions. nobody is just one thing, and nobody stays one way. every person is a kaleidoscope and they will surprise you. you will surprise yourself. it’s not a warning and it’s not a judgement and it’s not an excuse, and it’s certainly not a reason to stop trying or to stop trusting. it is just a fact.
by the way i’m the reason why they send weathermen into hurricanes and shit. “it’s needless and dangerous!!!!!” i don’t care. every day i call into CNN and demand they send their most pathetic newscaster into a storm to watch them be knocked down by wave and wind and they sigh and say yes ma'am. and i do this all for nasty, sexual purposes, if you were wondering.
my favorite part of this post is people started tagging it with names of characters i’ve never heard of so i got curious and googled them and like a third are just tagging it as their local weatherman. very funny.
